How we rate destinations

Season ratings

Every destination gets one of four ratings for each month. Peak means the most reliable sea conditions and visibility of the year. Good means diving is normal but weather or conditions are less predictable. Off season means most divers would do better elsewhere. Closed means the park, resorts or boats stop operating.

Seasons describe typical years. Any single week can be better or worse.

Where the data comes from

We compare dive operators, liveaboard schedules, park authorities and sea temperature records, and list the sources on every destination page. Where they disagree, we use the more conservative range. Each page shows when it was last reviewed.

What we don't do

We don't sell trips, run boats or teach courses, and we don't tell you a site is safe for you on a given day. Use this site to plan, then confirm conditions with a local dive operator before you go.
