Overview

Cocos Island is reached only by liveaboard from Puntarenas on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. Trips are typically 10 nights, and some run 11. The crossing takes about 30 to 36 hours each way, which leaves roughly six and a half to seven days of diving at the island.

In 2026 listings, 10-night trips typically cost about $6,400 to $7,250 per person, or roughly $640 to $725 a night. The national park fee is extra, listed at $490 to $554 per person. Boats run all year, and most operators expect Advanced Open Water and around 50 logged dives.
